What's usually behind it
Drain pump or blocked filter
Coins, hair ties, and sock lint end up in the pump filter. If the washer hums but won't drain, this is the first thing we check — often fixed in a single visit with the filter cleared or the pump replaced.
Worn drive belt, coupler, or motor brushes
A drum that won't spin or spins weakly usually traces to the drive system. These are standard wear parts on machines past their fifth year.
Failed door lock assembly
Front-loaders won't start — or won't open — with a bad lock. We can release a locked door without damage and replace the assembly on the spot for most brands.
Suspension and bearings
Violent banging on spin means shocks or springs; a roar like a jet engine means drum bearings. Bearings are the one washer repair that's sometimes not worth doing — we'll give you the number before touching anything.
Is it worth fixing?
If the machine is under 8 years old and the repair is a common part, repair. Bearing failure on a budget front-loader is usually replacement territory.

Washer questions
My washer door is locked with clothes inside. What do I do?
Don't force it — the glass and the latch both lose. Unplug the machine for 5 minutes; many models release the lock on power-down. If not, call us: we can open it without damage and usually fix the lock the same visit.
Water is sitting in the drum. Can I still bail it out?
Yes, and it helps — scoop what you can before the visit. Leave the laundry in place though; what's caught in the pump tells us a lot.
Why does my washer shake the whole house on spin?
First check it's level and the shipping bolts are out (a surprisingly common find on newer installs). If it's level and still walking, the suspension has worn — a fixable, mid-range repair.
