What's usually behind it
Heating element, igniter, or thermal fuse
The classic no-heat repair. Electric dryers burn out elements and thermal fuses; gas dryers lose igniters and coils. All are parts we carry on the truck for common models.
Blocked exhaust vent
Long dry times are a vent problem more often than a dryer problem. A blocked vent also trips thermal fuses and is the leading cause of dryer fires. Every dryer repair we do includes a vent airflow check.
Worn drum rollers, idler pulley, or belt
Squeals, thumps, and scraping come from the drum support hardware. Cheap parts, but the cabinet has to come apart — a proper tech job.
Failed door switch or start relay
If the dryer clicks but won't start, an inexpensive switch is the usual suspect — one of the quickest repairs we do.

My dryer runs but the clothes come out cold. Expensive?
Usually one of the cheaper repairs — a heating element, fuse, or igniter, quoted flat before any work starts. We carry these parts for the common brands, so it's normally one visit.
Could my long dry times just be the vent?
Very often yes. If the top of the dryer gets hot and the load stays damp, the heat has nowhere to go. We check vent airflow on every dryer call and can clean the run to the wall.
I smell burning. Should I keep using it?
No — unplug it (or close the gas valve) and call. Lint near the element is the most common cause and it's a genuine fire risk, not an inconvenience.
